One Year

This past year has been a marvelous journey watching this little bit grow from 8 to 19lbs and gain at least half a foot in length.

I thought I talked a lot, but my baby is the one. She babbled for the first time at 3 weeks. My mom and I were on our way to Michael’s craft store so I can get some of those plaster molds for little bit’s hands and feet. I put this tiny little creature in her car seat not even a month old yet and she starts saying “ahhhh” and “baahhh” and I knew at that moment that I was in for an adventure.

Little bit is adding more and more words every day and I am amazed every time she says something new. What impresses me the most is that all the baby books say that it is normal for babies 18 months and under to say an average of three words! Little bit has said well over 20 words.

Here’s her words and most she knows what object/person they relate to.

kitty, ball, doggie, light, mama, dada, mommy, daddy, black, yellow, gramma, patty cake, happy, more, baba, nana, banana, bob, eat, mine, hi, bye bye, yah,  more, tree, birdie, eye, noise, hair, toes, wee wee, wah wah (water) no no, kayleigh (my niece), and pretty much every babble sounds in the book.

She can also point to mommy, daddy or herself when we ask where’s “daddy’s” nose, ears, eyes, head, teeth, toes and she can also point when we ask to kitty, doggy, fishie, lights, and fan.

She went from a tiny little 8lb ball with jerky hand gestures to one that lifts herself up on furniture and uses it to get where she wants to go.  She has a fond love for baskets and climbs into them at any chance she gets. At five months old we sat her up and she stayed seated so watching her learn to sit by herself seemed like a tiny miracle.

I’m such a proud mom and maybe I’m just an emotional nut but watching every milestone unfold is really heart melting.  Happy Birthday to my beautiful most intelligent baby girl!
